School holidays are here – HOORAY!!!! No excuse for not having fun, whatever the weather and here are two of our little misse gnots enjoying one of their favourite things in the whole world – Pony Club!
Just look at these two lovely ponies. At the front with his stunning white coat is Jerry and following is Tom. Yes, that would be like Tom and Jerry the cartoon, except in this case it’s Tom chasing Jerry! At Pony Club, the days start with the girls putting on helmets and padding for protection, then they get told which pony is theirs for the day. They can’t choose their pony, which is great, because it means they get to ride different ponies, not just their favourite ones. Then they get given the pony’s head collar and they go to the field to put the collar on their pony and lead them back to the stables. Then it’s time for grooming, which of course includes brushing and combing their manes and tails. At gnot, we really, really like this bit as we know how important it is to brush your hair everyday!! What is really fun, is that the girls can also add their own “touch” to the mane and tail, and on this day, they used loom bands to tie plaits and any other creations that they fancied!
After grooming, the ponies are tacked (which is technical talk for putting their saddle and bridle on), then fed to make sure that they can last the day with girls who are full of so much energy, and off they go!
During Pony Club the days are full of trotting, cantering and jumping in the arena. They also go on hacks. A hack is like going “off piste” and it’s soooooo much fun!!! In fact, trying to get the girls back into the arena after a hack is always a challenge! Then at the end of the day the ponies are untacked and led back to the field.
SO once that is done, the girls’ helmets and paddings can come off too and you can you imagine how sweaty their heads are and how great it feels to have air flowing through their hair. After a shower, just like the horses, little misse gnots need to brush their hair and here’s Issy showing us how it’s done with her missie gnot hairbrush – just look how stunning her hair looks after she has brushed her hair – and she’s smiling because it feels so nice!
